Motion Studio uses an activation scheme to prevent illegal copying. We feel this system is necessary to protect our investment in the development of this software. We are keenly aware that such systems can be a burden on legitimate users, so we have gone to great lengths to make the system easy, fast, and as painless as possible. Also, there is a benefit for end users: because the software is protected, the software can be freely downloaded if the install file lost (just keep your username and password information available for re-activation).
Motion Studio activation is controlled by the licensing control panel. The control panel is accessible from the Help|Licensing menu item in the Motion Studio interface. You can also run the licensing program directly, by double-clicking the TurboLicense.exe file in the Motion Studio folder.
If you have an internet connection, the software can be instantly activated or purchased directly from the licensing control panel. If you purchase a license this way, the program will be automatically activated. When Motion Studio is purchased, you are given a user name and password. Make a note of the user name and password and keep it safe: with this information you can re-activate the software instantly if you get a new computer, or if you need to re-install it for any reason.

Instant Activation
These are automated activation methods, available 24 hours a day via the internet:
If you have an internet connection for the computer with Motion Studio, you can activate the software instantly. Just enter your user name and password into the activation panel, and click Activate.
If you have an internet connection on another computer, you can get an activation
code from the registration webpage here (you will need your user name, password,
and the serial code listed at the top of the license screen):
http://www.pixelfu.com/MotionStudio/Register.html
You can then enter the generated key code into the activation panel.
If you do not have any access to the internet, you can request an activation key using FAX (or using email, although in this case the registration webpage would be faster). The license control panel includes information on how to get a key this way, and there is a button included that will generate a printable FAX request form.
Manual activation requires processing in our office, and so there may be some delay in receiving your activation code.
When the program is activated, a license file is created in the Motion Studio folder called activation.lic. You may wish to back up this file. If you have to re-install the software, replacing the activation.lic file from a backup is sufficient to activate the software.
Our license is based on 'like-a-book' rules. You are allowed to install the software on multiple computers, as long as only one copy is being used at any given time. In other words, it's acceptable to install the software on a home computer and an office computer, as long as you only use one or the other at any given time. If you want to install the software on multiple computers for more than one user, additional licenses are required. An exception is granted for network renderers (such as Tsnet); it is acceptable to install the software on multiple rendering nodes, as long as the additional installations are used for rendering only.
In general, the licensing server will allow you multiple registrations for your user name and password. However, if the number of registrations exceeds normal limits, then the server may block futher registrations. In this case, contact Primitive Itch to unblock your registration.
We have placed in escrow a version of the software that does not require activation. In the case that Primitive Itch suddenly goes out of business, our office is hit by a meteor, or some other unforeseen happenstance, this open version of the software will be released so that you will not lose your ability to use the software.
